Mangalore: Auto Drivers' Union Under CITU Demand Fare Hike

Mangalore, Jul 23: The members of Federation of Karnataka Auto Rickshaw Drivers' Union (FKARDU) under Centre for Indian Trade Union (CITU) held a protest in front of the deputy commissioner's office
here on Friday July 23.

The protest was held under the leadership of CITU members. The protesting members demanded the authorities concerned to allow the auto fare hike in the wake of recent increase in petrol and diesel
prices. They urged that at least an increase of Rs 3 from the current auto fare is essential to make up with the fuel price hike.

Further, Rs 11 for every kilometre after minumum charge and 15% increase in waiting and luggage charges were among other demands by the protestors. They also urged for providing benefits such as ESI, provident fund and pension by setting up welfare board for the auto drivers.    

As many as 50 drivers and members of the union gathered to support the protest.

    THIS FKARDU & CITU WERE SLEEPING DURING UPA HIKED PRICES OF PETROL,DIESEL,KEROSENE & GAS.

    LET THEM PROTEST IN FRONT OF CONGRESS OFFICE WITH SLOGAN AGAISNT PUPPET & ITALIAN.

    AUTODRIVER SHOULD MAINTIAN OLD PRICE ONLY.

    RTO should convene the meeting of the leaders of Autorikshaw Drivers/Owners Unions immediately and settle the fare hike without any loss of time.It is already too late.
