Covid restrictions in place till May in Karnataka: Health minister Sudhakar

Bengaluru, Apr 3 (IANS): Karnataka health minister K. Sudhakar on Saturday ruled out possibilities of bringing any change in a series of restrictions that were enforced by the state government due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.

Sudhakar told reporters that the state government decided to enforce these guidelines after several rounds of discussions with various departments concerned and this decision was not taken in haste.

Karnataka on Friday ordered the shutting down of boarding and residential hostels for primary and secondary schools and optional attendance for students of Classes 10, 11 and 12. Besides, the government also reintroduced 50 per cent occupancy rules in all film theaters.

In its order issued on Friday, the government had also ordered gymnasiums, party halls, club houses and swimming pools to be closed in the state while occupancy in buses should not exceed beyond the seating capacity.

Sudhakar said that the second wave, as per the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), will last till May end and from the first week of June as only then one can expect to see a fall in the Covid cases.

The health minister contended that if no precautions are taken in these two months and cases continued to rise, critics are likely to blame the authorities.

"The government can not close its eyes on such serious issues related to people's health. We all are facing tough times, there is no doubt about that. These tough times certainly deserve tough decisions too. The government cannot compromise on people's health," he argued.

He added that the government's top priority is to take care of the children in the state. "The CM has taken this decision after considering the suggestions and reports submitted by the Technical Advisory Committee, ministers and officials. This is not a decision taken in haste or to satisfy one's ego. Cases are on the rise, it is there to see for all," said Sudhakar.

Launching a veiled attack on the film fraternity which is demanding 100 per cent occupancy in theatres, the health minister said that the state government had agreed to allow all activities as the pandemic had come under control after an eight month long lock down.

"No government is willingly taking this decision. This is a world over phenomenon. Even during the second wave many countries across the globe re-introduce harsh decisions like night curfew and lockdown. But, we have not taken such a decision so far. If we do not control this pandemic now, we may have to go back to the same situation where lockdown could only be a solution," he said.

He added that there should not be politics dragged into such matters. "I suggest our opposition members not indulge in politics at the cost of people's health," he said.

Answering to a question, the minister maintained that Covid restriction were also applied to political rallies and the Election Commission of India has already issued guidelines to respective states where elections are happening.

Dear sir, all covid restrictions apply when a person is in public... consider the conditions at night where there a high chance of transmission... migrants for example from ರೋಗಿ state who can be found in nook and corner of metro cities of India...they live in very small rooms 4-5 or people in a room at night....many rickshaw drivers from ರೋಗಿ state who are the majority rickshaw drivers in many state capitals in North... live at night in a small room in group of 6-8... no social distancing and mask practicable at night while sleeping.... this is a fertile place for covid transmission from person to person..... there is a huge population living in this kind of pathetic circumstance in most of the cities.... pls isolate all economic activities of migrant labourers and ensure that migrants go back and do not live in other cities in inhuman conditions... as long as we see paanipuriwallas, istriwallas, cut and spoilt fruit carts, vada pav stalls, this pandemic will not stop...

First of all don't air false narrative of paid media. Get real facts based on science and evidence & not based on false propaganda about existence of corona, why nobody is able to get bounty announced by foreign doctors for all to prove corona had killed people? Why people died will reveal it's a lie. All countries never been able to prove corona had killed people more this year compared to previous years, as data proves contrary. 99.997% people recovered with or without medicines all over the world. Now don't preach based on your experience as fear and panic creates more dangerous complications and adverse drug reactions killed more people than just flu like virus that existed even before human race came into existence.

According to some scientists & doctors vaccines at the time of pandemic create super bugs or the viruses get mutated into more dangerous strains which make the recipients "Super Spreaders" of the new variant which is called Second Wave & then Third Wave as they continue to defy vaccine intentions of giving herd immunity. We can see the spurt in more infected cases in those countries which had started aggressive immunization drives. A German doctor & scientist in Gates Foundation with many laurels has called WHO to stop vaccinations at present to stop these waves. Those who really got corona infections from their childhood are the only Super People who will defy any new strains as they have got immune cells with memory. Those who got it this time will have better Herd Immunity than vaccines as per present knowledge which is proven with evidence. How to end this cycle- Stop RTPCR Tests which are never approved by any FDA. & Stop Chinese Model of drama to create panic & hype. 2 Indian doctors last year at this month itself had asked all the people to stop tuning in TV News channels to stop the panic & raise their immunity.

Blanket ban should be put on functions where crowds gather; partial bans are as good as useless because our people are very very complacent!

Seems mostly through shutdowns only virus lingered this long, otherwise with the herd immunity by this time virus would have gone by this time. Some countries defied communist playbook shutdowns. They did not suffer economic downturn or hardships that communist chinese wanted rest of world suffer to show their economic resilency and in order to control the world also finances. (Communist Chinese strategy seems to be choke finances, create food shortages, through shutdowns, create chaos, internal strifes then one becomes weak then invasions to control the key countries then rest of the world, without much efforts, that's what these viruses all about, if more of them, they plan it is not suprising)
