Kasargod, Jul 27:
Several houses located along the sea shore at Manimunda beach in Uppala, near here, were damaged on Sunday July 25 due to erosion caused by a tumultuous sea. Incessant rains and heavy gales have been lashing the region since the past few days.

More than 30 palm trees were uprooted and plantations damaged in the heavy rains. Many houses are in a precarious condition due to surging high tides.

Zilla Panchayat (ZP) president Abdul Razak, Manimunda gram panchayat president Farida and former vice-president Moosa visited the distressed families.

ZP president Abdul Razak offered assurances of trying to get government funds for rehabilitating the distressed families.

Muslim Relief Committee also offered assistance to shift the families and provided food and shelter.

LIVING IN THE COASTAL AREA IS BECOME A NIGHTMARE,SPECIALLY IN THE MANSOON. UPPALA COASTAL AREA IS HEAVILY POPULATED BY THE POOR CLASS FAMILIES OF THE DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES OF FISHERMAN AND OTHERS.THESE FAMILIES SHOULD PLAN OF SHIFTING FROM THE AREA TO SAFE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

SINCE THESE PEOPLE ARE FROM THE POOR CLASS AND MOST OF THEM ARE DEPENDING THEIR BREAD FROM THE SEA,THE CONCERNED AUTHORITIES SHOULD INFLUENCE THE GOVERNMENT FOR THEIR REHABILITATION.ALSO IT IS THE DUTY OF THE JAMAAT COMMITTEES TO LOOK IN TO THE MATTER OF THESE AFFECTED PEOPLE.
