Bengaluru, Apr 4: In yet another modification of its latest order on the Covid management situation following the recent spike in the number of positive cases, the BS Yediyurappa regime has now allowed gyms to function to 50% of their capacity.

The state government had on Saturday ordered the closure of gyms while allowing cinema theatres, pubs and restaurants to function to 50% of their capacity from Easter Sunday till April 21.

However, following representations from the Kannada film industry bigwigs, especially pressure from the family of Dr Rajkumar as a movie of the late actor’s son Puneeth Rajkumar 'Yuvaratna' being released across Karnataka, the state chief secretary had allowed the cinema theatres to function to full capacity.

Now, in the latest order issued by the chief secretary, P Ravikumar, the state government has allowed gyms to function to 50% of their capacity subject to other normal restrictions of wearing face masks, physical distancing and sanitisation.

The government order says the modification was on account of representations made by the owners and operators of gyms.

Karnataka to get 15.25 lac doses of vaccine

Meanwhile, the state health and family welfare minister Dr K Sudhakar have announced that Karnataka will be getting 15,25,500 doses of Covid-19 vaccine on Monday.

The minister said the state will be getting one consignment of 5,25,500 doses of vaccine by road in Belagavi on Monday morning, another consignment of 10,00,000 doses will be arriving by air through a late-night flight in Bengaluru.

Its very evident that Yeddy and his advisors are a confused lot. Must have got another truck load of cash for making these adjustments. Unless they stop dancing to the tunes of others and take strict measures the next wave will hit them like a tsunmai and they will be caught on the wrong foot again.

If theatres can operate in full swing, then any public function can be held without any hinderance. Government is taking decisions based on their income and not in the interest of Public health concerns. This kind of stupid actions are to be stopped forever.
