Mangalore, Jul 27:
Co-operation of the Arts for the Underprivileged in Society and the Environment (CAUSE) Foundation will be presenting ‘Grease’, a musical comedy, at Town Hall, on Saturday August 7 at 3.30 pm.

CAUSE Foundation is a non-profit organization which has been, for the past 14 years, promoting local talent through its musical productions with all profits from these ventures going to worthy local charities.

‘Grease’ is a musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey and is considered to be one of the best films of the late 70s.  It is named after the 1950s’ American working class subculture called the ‘Greasers’.

Set in the late 1950s, the musical follows the lives of working class students as they navigate the complexities of love, friendship, and life.  It comments on the prevailing social issues of the time like class consciousness, teenage pregnancy, and gang conflicts, but most importantly it is an ode to young love.

Grease is filled with energetic dances and infectiously catchy songs.  The musical recreates the sound of early rock n’ roll and includes such hits like ‘Greased Lightning’, ‘You’re the One That I Want’, ‘Summer Nights’, and ‘We Go Together’ among others.

Grease will feature Neville De Nazareth, Niharika Parthasarathy, Arvind Kasturi, and Prem Koshy.

Vivek Manzel is the music director. The band by Bryden Lewis (lead), Premila Roberts (piano), Vikram Nair (bass), Neville Barucha (keyboards) and Vivek Menzel (percussion and drums).
