Karkala: Used tyres turn environment-friendly, beautify garden

Karkala, Apr 10: The effort of progressive agriculturist Jagadeesha Prabhu of Mala Kadaria, who tried some experiment during the coronavirus pandemic, has borne fruits. He has used the used tyre, which is generally thrown as scrap, to beautify his garden.

Improper disposition of used tyres causes damage to the environment. During monsoon, the water gets accumulated inside the tyres and leads to mosquito breeding. Jagadeesha, who saw this issue, made an attempt to give the used tyre, a new form.

Prabhu got the idea of manufacturing flower vase while searching on YouTube and put that into action during the coronavirus pandemic. He cut the tyre with blade in different shapes and later painted it.

He has made more than 30 flower vases from used tyres. He has received demand for those too. Though he did not have any intention of selling them, he has got serious enquiries. Making flower vases from Radial tyres is easy says Prabhu. Those who are interested can do it at home itself. There is plenty of space in a tyre to put manure and water in order for the plant to grow.

Earlier, Prabhu had invented a new method of drawing water from the well using a PVC pipe.

"Enthusiasm and effort is required to convert a used tyre into a flower vase. My mind went towards this during the lockdown period. There are many opportunities to use unwanted things as environment-friendly," he says.
