Karwar: Lovers fall to death from bridge when taking selfie

Karwar, Apr 13: Two youngsters, a boy and a girl, fell into the river when taking selfies by standing on Kali Bridge near Ganeshagudi near Joida in the district on Monday April 12 evening.

The mortal remains of the young couple, were recovered on the morning of Tuesday, April 13.

The deceased are identified as Purushotham Patila, student of BA in Karnataka college of Bidar and Rakshitha S, native of Bidar, who studies in Kalaburagi.

The couple had come to Supa Dam at Ambika Nagar on Monday from Dandeli by auto rickshaw. They were clicking selfie standing on the bridge near the dam. Both fell into the Kali river as they got off-balanced while clicking selfie. Based on the mobile phone of the girl, which was found on the bridge, call was made to her home and the couple were identified.

The mortal remains were brought out from the river after searching by members of Fly Catcher team. Ramnagar police have registered a case in this connection.
