Mangaluru: Transport workers strike continues - More KSRTC buses operated

Mangaluru, Apr 13: Even as the striking transport workers remained adamant on continuing with their strike demanding a pay hike, more KSRTC buses moved around in the twin districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada on Monday April 12.

As many as 120 buses were run by the Mangaluru division of KSRTC. A total of 250 buses have been serving the people out of total 460 buses with Mangaluru division of KSRTC, said divisional controller, Arun Kumar.

In Udupi too there was some improvement with 20 buses taking to roads. The attendance improved on the basis of assurance given by the government that hose who attend to duties will get their salaries. There was demand for more buses as people wanted to go home for the Ugadi festival. KSRTC officials said that salary has been disbursed to all those who attended to duties.

On the sixth day of the strike, there was an increase in the number of buses operated in Puttur division. On April 12, 105 buses were run in this division.
