Mangalore, Jul 31: The post of the president of Kendra Samiti Pragatibandhu was handed over to Shanker Shetty by outgoing president Sukhalatha Shetty on Saturday July 31 at glittering ceremony in Town Hall here.

Other office-bearers too were installed on the occasion. The posts of gramadhikaris also changed hands.

Speaking on the occasion, Dharmastala Dharmadakari Dr Veerendra Hegde said that in order to get good results one must work hard and not just depend on prayers. This is what the the Pragathibandu committee members have shown with their hardwork. Taking loans and then suffering is what ordinary people do but converting the loan money into asset and creating huge profits while at the same time repaying the loan is a great feat, he added.

U T Khadar said Dharmastala's rural development project has unified people from different religions. He appreciated Dharmastala projects as examples for politicians to learn how development works could be undertaken with limited funds. He also extended his support and assistance to the Pragatibandhu members in their work.

Shares in the profit were handed over to the Pragatibandhu members of each village in the form of cheques.

Veerendra Hegde's wife Hemavathi, Mangalore city corporation mayor Rajini Dugganna, Dharmastala rural development project director Dr L H Manjunath were also present on the occasion.

Dayanand Kattalsar compered the programme.
