Mumbai, Apr 19: Former president of Konkani Welfare Association (SJKWA) John Crasta Agrar passed away on Monday, April 19 due to a brain haemorrhage at Meditech hospital in Mira-Bhayandar, Mumbai.

He was originally from Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada and belonged to the Holy Saviour Church, Agrar parish. He was also a social worker and actively engaged in philanthropic services. He operated the Shaun Tours & Travels in Mira Road for over two decades.

In the past, when a two-day Konkani food festival depicting the ancestral life of the Christian community in ancient coastal Karnataka was held in Mira Road, SJKWA had created an elaborate exhibition in the name of the 'Matov Sobhanacchio Vastu' (museum containing objects for wedding chapels). It was a collection of unique objects that represent the culture of the early Christians of Mangaluru. As a pioneer of the Christian community wedding (Roce) programs in coastal Karnataka and across Mumbai, he introduced old Christian heritage to the nuptials.

He would also invite Konkani, Tulu and Kannada drama teams to perform at Mira Road as a means to promote the unity of the people of Karnataka. John Crasta is survived by his wife, son, daughter and relatives.

John Crasta,the present President of st. Joseph's konkani welfare association Mira road,a name unknown to few. A fantastic human being, a great lover and promoter of konkani in Mira road. His tireless passion to restore and sustain konkani culture as per tradition is noteworthy. His untimely demise sent a shocking wave among his well wishers. God's plans are mysterious but not rediculous. May good lord embrace him with his angels to his heavenly abode. May his soul find eternal peace. Heartfelt sympathies to his sorrowful wife and children. May God fill them with courage to overcome this pain.

An inspiring Leader , a committed worker and the backbone of St. Joseph's Konkani Welfare Association Mira Road, was president of the Association and active since it's inception. Dear John, we miss you but we will cherish your enthusiasm towards upliftment of Konkani Culture and try to follow your foot steps. A true warrior of Konkani who was behind many Konkani Cultural programs and events held in Mira Road. You will always remain our inspiration dear John. Dear Family members of John Crasta Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of Johnny. He was in our Omzoor parish during his High School Studies in Nithya Sahaya Matha High School Arkula ( 1977- 1980) From there he moved to Mumbai in seek of daily bread. And I am glad to say that he has become a successful businessman. Having a good heart he has worked for the downtrodden, looked forward to the upliftment of poor people, and thus became a well-known philanthropist. May his beautiful soul rest in peace

It's a very sad news that John Crasta ( Johny Dattu) Agrar/Mira Road has changed his abode to Eternity. He was full of life and love . Lived a dignified life in a dignified way. Can not question the wisdom/Will of God in lifting him up to Him. Condolences to all the Family Members
