Riyadh: 7 Star Mulky Wins Panorama Cup Held to Help School at Padubidri

Riyadh, Aug 3: In an exciting cricket final playoff of Panorama Cup-2010 held here recently, 7 Stars Mulky defeated Malik XI Pakistan by 4 wickets and won the cup. The cricket tournament was organized by Panorama - Riyadh unit for the noble cause of construction of a new school building at Padubidri.
It was the debut match conducted by Panorama at MVPI ground here. The tourney that began on July 18 saw participation of 24 teams. 7 Stars, which is now ruling on the top of the cricket arena in Riyadh, won the toss and chose to field first.
Though Malik XI initially exhibited a thrilling show in their batting by keeping 7 Stars on their toes an excellent piece of bowling and fielding by 7 Stars players blocked the flow of runs from Malik XI batsmen’s willow. They started losing their batsmen one by one to the whizzing balls of 7 Stars. Fareed of Malik XI showed his marvelous batting, but he had to lose his ground to the Star’s crushing bowling. Sanju Srilanka and Shamshuddin Uchila showed their best performance in bowling. Sanju got hatrick wickets while Shamshuddin emerged as the ‘the Best Bowler’. At the end of the game, they scored 135 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in an allotted 12 overs.
After a while, 7 Stars jumped into the pitch to chase the runs scored by Malik XI. Even though 7 Stars showed a slow pace and difficult move in the beginning, their vibrant and bubbly batting got them to reach a confident push. 7 Stars started their innings with the opener Riyaz Sagar and Dawood. Riyaz took full control of the pitch with his awe-inspiring striking of balls. He responded amazingly to the rushing balls of Malik XI to cause them to touch down at fours and sixes. He was declared the Best Batsman in the match.
Shamshuddin Uchila, after Dawood being bowled out went on to partner well with Riyaz Sagar in getting to the proximity of winning margin. Unluckily, Riyaz lost the pitch being bowled out. An apprehension started to cloud on the 7 Stars team when their batting performance began to decline in the meantime. However, with entry of Riyaz Mulky, captain of 7 Stars team, they revived their hopes with Riyaz smashing the ground with his awesome batting hitting the balls to two fours and two sixes. Riyaz Mulky and Shamshuddin Uchila remained at the pitch till they finally reached their target by trampling Malik XI by 4 wickets in 6.3 overs and won the cup.
Panorama Cup - 2010 was awarded to 7 Stars Mulky in the presentation ceremony. First runner-up trophy was presented to Malik XI and second runner-up was presented to Rosewood Srilanka. The presentation function was witnessed the presence of Abdul Khader, president of Panorama - Riyadh, Khader Hejmady, former Mr Mangalore University, Nazeer Hassan, JF-Riyadh Unit, Satish Suralpady, Sarfraz A H and Ismail (Hyundai) from the Cricket Organizing Committee among others.
Rafik, Ayaz , Satish, Jagadish Shetty were the umpires of the match.
MASA-Dammam-Khobar, PIZZA INN-Riyadh, Air Arabia, Mohandas Shetty from Pizza Inn, Royston Prabhu, Vasanth Kumar Hegde from Al-Rajhi Bank-Riyadh were given heartfelt thanks for their generous contribution for the noble cause of school.
A Brief Introduction of Panorama
Panorama is a socio-educational organization, which was mainly formed for taking up the initiative of constructing a new school building replacing a century-old one at Padubidri in Udupi district. It came into existence four years ago in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia having units in Riyadh and Al-Khobar-Dammam. Limited sources and resources of the members of Panorama made them to initiate various fund-raising moves through donation with help from donors, philanthropists, and family get-togethers, organization of cricket tourney among others to implement their dreams. The construction of the school building is in progress.
The organization also aims to create awareness amongst the members about education, self-development programme, including but not limited to social activities.
