Mangalore, Aug 7: ‘Whispering Wonders’, a solo exhibition of paintings by promising artist Vishwas M Bhat was inaugurated at Orchid Art Gallery, Balmatta, on Friday August 6.
D K Chowta, playwright of ‘Pilipatt Gadas’, the popular Tulu play which has seen 132 shows, and former secretary of Chitrakala Parishat, Bangalore, inaugurated the exhibition on Friday evening.
In his inaugural address, Chowta said that the paintings of Bhat have a lyrical quality and the landscapes appeal to the eye. “His every painting expresses clarity of his thoughts”, he added.
He added that it’s generally seen that some of the artists paint anything and it is untitled, which is not a good practice.
Fr John Fernandes, chair in Christianity, Mangalore University, veteran artists Somayaji, Wilson D’Souza, and art lover Chikkappa Shetty were present on the occasion.
The art exhibition will be open for public viewing to Monday August 16 between 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
This is Bhat’s first solo show and is a dramatic presentation of the bounty of nature expressed in a lucid way.
