Filmfare Awards : Lifetime Achievement for Ambareesh, DK Stars Shine

Bangalore, Aug 8: Rebel Star Ambareesh was awarded the Lifetime achievement awards at the 57th Filmfare Awards 2009 (South) held on Saturday August 7 night. The Kannada superstar won the award along with Malayalam thespian KPAC Lalitha.
Film, Maleyali Joteyali bagged the best Kannada film at the award ceremony, while Ganesh for the same film won the best actor award. While Ambareesh winning the top honour was a moment of great pride for Kannada filmdom, lot of many Kannada names shared the honour at the award ceremony though for their films in neighbouring states.

Top Honours for Dakshina Kannadiga Actors
Kannadiga Prakash Rai, who won best actor national award – 2009 for Tamil film Kanchivaram won the best actor Filmfare award for the same film, while Bangalore’s very own Anushka Shetty won the best actress award for Telugu film, Magadheera with Radhika Pandit bagging the award for best actress for Kannada film Love Guru and Yajna Shetty winning the special jury award for best actress in the film, Yeddelu Manjunatha. Incidentally all these four actors have their roots in Dakshina Kannada district.

The other honour for Kannada film industry are Srinagar Kitty, special jury award for the best actor for film, Savari, Guruprasad, best director for film Yeddelu Manjunatha', best music director V Harikrishna for movie Raj The Showman, best lyricists Jayant Kaikani for Yello maleyagide…from Manasare, best playback singers Chethan and Shamita Malnad for songs Yaare nee devateye and Madhura pisumaatige from Ambaari and Birugaali, respectively and best supporting actors for Achyutkumar and Tulasi Shivamani for film Josh.
