Kundapur, May 12: “The government has completely failed in the process of providing vaccinations. People above 45 and senior citizens are concerned for their well-being. The state government and the health department should help resolve their issues in this connection,” urged Kundapur block Congress president Kanmakki Hariprasad Shetty.

“Many of the senior citizens who have received their first dose of vaccination were unable to obtain the second dose even after the lapse of the 60-day period. The press release from the health department states that the second dose of vaccination should be obtained after four weeks of taking the first dose. Senior citizens were seen visiting the vaccination centres during the lockdown. Meanwhile, the centres are saying that the second dose of Covaxin is not available for the time being. The senior citizens are worried that their first dose will serve no purpose if they do not obtain the second dose of vaccination within the time limit," he said.

“People above 45 years are worried that they too may face the same dilemma. Vaccination for people above 18 years could have been started after successfully completing these two stages. The people are tired of the government’s lack of preparations and planning. The need to hunt for the second dose should be eliminated. People should be made aware of the consequences of delay for the second dose. What is the use of the government which is unable to put an end to such confusion,” Hariprasad questioned.
