Mumbai-Karwar Super Fast Express Train Begins Service From City

Mangalore, Aug 14: Union minister of state for railways K H Muniyappa flagged off Mumbai CST - Karwar Tri-weekly Super Fast Express Train, the service of which has now been extended to the city, from Kankanady railway station ((Mangalore junction) here on Saturday August 14.
Speaking after inauguration, minister said that the extended train service has 253km length and will stop at Suratkal, Udupi, Byndoor and Kumta. This will be of great benefit to teh frequesnt Mubai travelers from the coastal city, he said. Minister further stressed that for railways passenger safety is paramount.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel urged the minister to introduce new trains between Mangalore - Mumbai and Mangalore - Bangalore.n He also demanded the minister to consider the demand of the region to make Mangalore as a division under the South Western Railway.
As per the time table, the train is set to leave Mumbai at 10.15 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and reach Mangalore at 12.15 pm the next day. It is slated to leave station at 1.50 pm on Thursdays, Saturdays and Tuesdays, and reach Mumbai CST at 4.05am the next day.
S K Raina of Palghat Division, Oscar Fernandes, MP, Mangalore south MLA N Yogish Bhat, Mangalore MLA UT Khader and Mangalore City Corporation mayor Rajani Dugganna among others were present.
