Mumbai, May 17: Vrinda Mohandas Suvarna (56), hailing from Mulki, Udupi district passed away at Global hospital, Parel on Sunday May 16 morning. Though she was admitted for brief illness, she was later infected by coronavirus.
Soon after hearing the news of her demise, her husband Mohandas Suvarna (62), committed suicide by hanging at his residence at Rose View apartment, Vasai Omnagar.
While Vrinda was an employee of the Vasai branch of Bharath cooperative bank, Mohandas was employed in a private company. Both of them hailed from Mulki and were residing in Mumbai for a long time.
The last rites of Vrinda were performed by BMC officials at Dadar, Shivajinagar crematorium as she was corona infected. The last rites of Mohandas were performed after post-mortem in the cooperation of local social worker Sadashiva Karkera and others by his relatives at Vasai.
The deceased had no children. While Vrinda is survived by her brother and sister, Mohandas has two brothers and a sister. Both of them have left behind friends and other relatives.
