Covid second wave: Karnataka to extend lockdown by two more weeks?

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, May 21: Covid pandemic has been causing mayhem for over a year in the state now. The second wave has crippled the state as the death toll and hospitalization of people continues to increase. It is almost certain, in the wake of the present situation, that the lockdown will be extended in Karnataka by two more weeks.

A meeting with regards to the present Covid related situation in the state was held on Friday, May 21 at Vidhana Soudha. All the high-level officials who participated in the meeting have unanimously agreed to extend the lockdown.

Officials of the disaster management committee of the state have made a serious assessment of the situation and have exerted pressure on the state government to extend the lockdown by 15 more days with the hope to contain the spread of the infection.

Experts feel that people living in city areas feel anxious when the lockdown will be withdrawn. The infection which has soared in rural areas might enter city areas again as people from rural areas will migrate to city areas in search of employment if lockdown is revoked.

Chief secretary Ravikumar has informed the high-level officers that he will appraise these points to CM and it is almost certain that the lockdown will be extended till June 7.

Ravikumar is going to discuss the inputs given by the high-level committee with the CM on the evening of Friday, May 21 and a final decision will be arrived at after considering the pros and cons of extending the lockdown.

It is good to know that the Karnataka government has extended lockdown by two more weeks. This should have been done much before but anyway it is never too late. Now people should strictly follow the protocols, irrespective of whether they are rich or poor. The same yardsticks should be used on them. Then see the results.

When Nero lost touch with the people he fiddled while Rome was burning. No use advising or requesting this insensitive govt to lift unscientific lockdown measures and protocols. Time for all the people to protest them for an epidemic that never requires any draconian measures and demand either compensate each and every citizen or quit governance. Let people come out and protest this high handed rules like it's happening all over the world now to end this planndemic hoax.

If only these incompetent politicians were proactive and had imposed restrictions in March we would not have been in this mess. The Central govt. Washed off its hands snd passed the monkey to the states who messed up with the entire management of the pandemic and have caused such large scale damage and destruction.

The people have to pay the price for the gpvts complete ignorance of their own covid task force advice about surge in May given in March. And now resourceless DC's are forced into using law and order instead of normal helping hand.
