Mangaluru, May 28: Covid19 second wave has wreaked havoc in villages and the gram panchayats, with the help of task forces, are trying their best to manage the situation.

To give further boost to this work at the village level, the rural development and panchayat raj department has come out with a plan. The department has decided to give awards at the taluk level to one best performing panchayat that has got rid of the corona infection This award will inspire the panchayats to reduce the number of infections and spread awareness about Covid control. Three Gram Sevaks from the said gram panchayat limit will also get certificates of appreciation.

Task forces in villages have been engaged in spreading awareness about coronavirus, distribution of masks and sanitisers, food kits, supervising quarantine centres, and helping people who have migrated from cities to find some work.

Mysuru district administration in a special announcement, has said that wards, gram panchayats, primary health centers etc which become Covid-free between June 1 to 25 will be awarded. This selection will take place for every taluk. Health officer, staff, Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, panchayat development officers, secretary etc will be honoured on the Doctors Day on July 1. This scheme can be emulated by other district administrations so that their war against corona will get further fillip.

Rural development minister K S Eshwarappa, said that task forces have been formed at the gram panchayat level to control coronavirus infection. He noted that in most places, the task forces have been doing well. He said that gram panchayats in every taluk which perform well in corona management will be selected and honoured.

    Who is this guy...., from which planet....????, much better if these sevaka's take pride & opportunity to clean Ganga matha river from alleged covid 19 rotten dead bodies (khumbh returnees)... of Deshbhakt & nationalists....

    The obvious taluks will be from Udupi,DK,Coorg ,UK or shimogga .. But we dont know whom you want to select ..as these places are parts of karnataka only on the map
