Bengaluru, May 28: Home and law minister Basavaraj Bommai has made it clear that there will not be any relaxation in the lockdown restrictions currently in force across the state till June 7.

Speaking to reporters near his residence in Bengaluru on Friday, he said police have been asked to strictly enforce the restrictions and prevent people from moving around without any valid reason after the four-hour relaxation in the morning for buying milk and other essential items from 6 am to 10 am.

The minister complimented the excellent work of the Bengaluru police in identifying and arresting the accused persons, including two women, in the alleged gang rape of the young Bangladeshi woman.

Why did Cong hush up HY Meti case?

Asked about the opposition Congress party’s demand for the arrest of the former BJP minister Ramesh Jarkiholi allegedly involved in the sex CD issue, the minister said the investigation is going on and there is no interference. "Law will take its course,’’ he said.

To a question on the investigating officers being allegedly pressurized to hush up the case, Bommai said the BJP government need not learn anything from the Congress party, which had hushed up the rape allegation and similar sex video against former Congress minister HY Meti.

"Why did the Congress leaders talk about the issue now when the writ petition on the incident is pending before the High Court? The investigating officers have submitted their report to the High Court,’’ he explained.

The home and law minister pointed out that Congress opposition leader Siddaramaiah was the state’s chief minister, when the woman who was allegedly involved in the sex video had lodged a complaint, and the case was completely brushed aside.

"The investigation in this (charge against Ramesh Jarkiholi) is being carried in a most transparent and impartial manner. There is no interference from the government nor application of pressure on anybody,’’ he clarified.

Although you claimed to give better Governance, it has been worst than Congress /JDS governance in all counts. Regarding strict rule during this lock down, I can count 100 vehicles moving on the road in J.P Nagar from my Balcony after 10 O'clock. I doubt what urgency is there to two wheelers to move on the road without even wearing Helmets.

A good news among the gloom of insensitive and unscientific lockdown measures and protocols. In Haryana 36 village Panchayat have decided to defy govt lockdown measures and conveyed to the govt they are the govt and they will take care of any eventualities like health. They declared their villages will be govt offices and official mukt. If any officials dare to come to their villages they themselves are responsible if anything happens. When D S P with posse of police vehicles came to enforce lockdown people gheraoed their vehicles until they were forced to retreat. If the govt wants to enforce unlimited lockdown down people's throats without addressing their economic losses then this will spread to more and more places for an epidemic that never requires any draconian measures and protocols with recovery rate of same or less dangerous than seasonal flu like illnesses.

Looks like some power competition is going on between various leaders under BJP rule as of they are gonna rule this country forever. they are not elected by some supreme power from above it's people who put them to power...in next elections citizens need to think 10 times before voting.

The human tendency is that people's memories are short and for a brief moment. Even if elections were to be held tomorrow, people should remember that they have voted for a communal party and should teach this party a stringent lesson by usurping them out from their "corridors of power". One hope's that over a passage of time people are matured to judge what is right and wrong and the same blunders are not repetitive.

Mr Bommayi, please follow Kerala model to contain the virus. Give more time to purchase necessary things. Concentrate on crowdings and gatherings in order to avoid it. Introduce pass system for movement. Dont deny necessary activities of common people.
