Dubai, May 30: With India battling hard to flatten the coronavirus curve, Emirates airways has decided to extend the suspension of its flights to and fro the country till June 30.

The airline had earlier suspended flight operations from India till June 14.

In a statement on its website, the airline said that the suspension of flights from India that has been effective since April 24 will continue until June 30.

Moreover, passengers who have transited through India in the last 14 days will not be accepted to travel from any other point to the UAE, it stated.

However, UAE nationals, holders of UAE golden visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with the revised published Covid-19 protocols will be exempt for travel.

Regarding cancelled bookings, passengers can either choose to keep their ticket for future flights or rebook on another date.

Passengers who wish to keep their tickets for future use need not call the airline for now. They can contact their booking office when they are ready to travel.

Those who wish to rebook their flights should do so by contacting their travel agent or a booking office.

Earlier, the General Authority of Civil Aviation and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority had said that the suspension of flights from India would be extended in the wake of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the country. The suspension applies to travellers from India on all flights on national and foreign carriers, as well as for transit passengers coming from India, except transit flights travelling to the UAE and bound for India.
