June 1: DK records 536 new corona cases, Udupi 735; 8 deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, June 1: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, June 1 reported 536 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi reported 735 fresh cases and three deaths.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 8,53,357 samples have been tested so far, out of which 7,76,622 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 76,735, out of which 8,492 are currently active.

 

As many as 1172 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 918.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 71,10,617 as fine in 60,279 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 5,95,895 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 735 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 59,462 out of which 5,205 are currently active.

A total of 619 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

Coronavirus has claimed 336 lives in the district so far, including three on Tuesday.

Till now, 2,47,299 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 79,662 have received the second dose.
