Mangaluru, Jun 3: SWAG ERT and the Sonu Sood Foundation along with the railway police launched SWAG ERT rapid oxygen centre under the mentorship of ADGP of Karnataka railway police, Bhaskar Rao here at Mangaluru Central railway station on Thursday, June 3.
Mangaluru railway police station will now have a rapid oxygen centre for critical and emergency cases.
While the corporate world of bike rentals was not operational in a pandemic, Swag Bikes took the onus to ensure it stands tall in the time of Covid to ensure all its resources are utilized for rapid logistics of the critical oxygen supply through its large fleet of bikes and trucks.
Swag Bikes is the company that started delivering free oxygen on bikes in Bengaluru and nearby rural areas, the company has also expanded its CSR wing and now operates almost everywhere in Karnataka to provide free oxygen service.
SWAG ERT has supplied oxygen on various occasions in Bengaluru during the pandemic. It had also helped to avert tragedies where immediate oxygen was required, including critical cases in hospitals or oxygen requirement for treatment of patients in homes.
Process of allocation
Emergency cases can approach Sonu Sood Karnataka helpline 7069999961, GRP station will take a decision on the basis of the availability of oxygen and criticality of the case. The user can take oxygen from the SWAG ERT centre and return the cylinder back after sanitizing it. This will be maintained by the Government Railway Police (GRP) station, Mangaluru and SWAG ERT.
This is the fourth such centre in Karnataka including Bengaluru, Hubli and Bellary. As many as 20 cylinders are available at the Government Railway Police (GRP) station Mangaluru which can cover up to 70-80 km radius. There are two type B oxygen cylinders of 1,200 litres and a type D cylinder which is 7,000 litres.
"We have seen people suffer due to the scarcity of oxygen. Our main objective is to prevent tragedies that are likely to occur due to a lack of oxygen. We have enough supply of oxygen through our resources, and as of now, we have 20 cylinders. If the demand increases, we will supply cylinders. We have our centre where the analysis team will analyze the call and an internal doctor will speak with the concerned and check whether oxygen is required, then the message is passed onto the GRP station to dispatch the oxygen. One can walk-in to the GRP station or can call the centre if oxygen is required. Anyone who requires oxygen in case of emergency can take the oxygen or it will be supplied to the concerned," says Amith Purohit from SWAG ERT and Sonu Sood foundation.
