June 3: Dakshina Kannada records 598 new corona cases, 5 deaths; Udupi adds 580

Mangaluru/Udupi, June 3: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, June 3 reported 598 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi reported 580 fresh cases.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 8,59,919 samples have been tested so far, out of which 7,81,968 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 77,951, out of which 7,967 are currently active.

As many as 877 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 928.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 71,48,717 as fine in 60,656 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,02,064 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 580 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 60,678 out of which 4,533 are currently active.

A total of 923 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

Till now, 2,58,351 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 84,485 have received the second dose.
