Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jun 5: Normally, the entire body of a dancer is used for all forms of dances including traditional forms like Bharatnatyam and Kathak. The artistes convey what they want to, with the coordination of feet movements, hand movements, eyes, facial expressions etc. But an artiste from here has been able to convey her feelings just by using hand postures. She has won the admiration of the people and a video just using the movements of her hands uploaded in the social media has become viral.

This novel attempt was made by upcoming dance Guru and theatre artiste, Manjula Subrahmanya. With her efforts and hard work, she has won hearts by creating the impact of a dance through her hands alone. The dance she performed for the famous poem, 'Neenillade Nanagenide' has got a lot of attention.

Reportedly, Manjula got inspired to do this act after watching a dance expression with the help of hand postures done by Udupi-based dance teacher, Pratibha Samaga. Manjula thought of doing something different and created a 90-minute video by just using hand movements.

Manjula has been providing training online from her home because of the lockdown. She could create this video in just three days.
