If 'ideology' doesn't matter, changeover is easy: Sibal

New Delhi, Jun 10 (IANS): A day after Jitin Prasada left the party, the Congress leaders of the G-23 group of which Jitin Prasada was a part of, attacked him and said that ideological commitment is more important in politics.

Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said, "The question is -- will he get "prasada" from BJP or is he just a 'catch' for UP elections? In such deals if 'ideology' doesn't matter, changeover is easy."

He, however, said that the Congress party needs reforms and he will continue to raise the issues within the party. Sibal said he will never join the BJP as he has opposed the party's ideology.

Another leader who was signatory to the letter, M. Veerappa Moily said that Jitin Prasada did not have ideological commitment and party should look at this also before promoting such persons.

The Congress leaders have termed him opportunist and said that the party gave him whatever it could, but he chose to walk away.

Prasada after joining BJP on Wednesday, had said, "I feel there is no purpose of your doing politics or staying in a political party if a person is not able to serve or protect the interest of its people. I realized being in Congress and not being able to do the same. So, I joined BJP and my work will only speak for itself."

His father Jitendra Prasada was a prominent 'Brahmin' face in Uttar Prasad, who had challenged Sonia Gandhi's leadership in 1999 and had contested against her for the post of party chief. He died in 2002.

When there is a chance of making money, all political parties join together and their own and also their parties ideology goes into to the drain. Like it happened in Mysore D.C's transfer.

Whether we call this Prasada Ram Politics or Aaya Ram Gaya Ram Politics, this malice will continue in Indian Politics. " Jidar Gudh Wudar Makhi". The party that was claiming from roof tops to be a party with a difference stands fully exposed with such cheap level Politics be it in Goa, Karnataka, Rajasthan or NE etc or any states that is going to the polls The failure of the Costitutional bodies like the Election Commission, Supreme Court, Parliment, CAG, Lokpal, CVC, CBI Central Agencies etc including the Media have contributed to this sorry state of affairs in our country. If the Supreme Court does not reverse this trend, we will be gradually heading towards becoming a failed state.

Fathima, Mangalore, Agree with you. If the Congress cannot change even now, they have a very easy option of merging with a party of its choice. I know their leaders won't sell themselves so easily but they will see no different results with the same dynasty at the control tower.

Manohar, Udupi Scindia does not need to sell Pakodas, He has enough money to buy half of Madhya Pradesh. He is in the RS today due to the BJP. . Had he been in Congress , he would have been a chela to a Kamalnath till his death. Thats the reason he left. Also note MP had voted for Scindia and not for Kamalnath. We have the same problem in Mangalore and DK. Young able leaders from the minorities are joining BJP , JDS or their Minority wing to serve people. You may have noticed , they are even given chances to perform and contest. If you want to be a leader in DK or Mluru Congress , you will have to be a sloganer for most of your life for someone like Ivan or Ramanath Rai, Modern day young leader dont buy this xhit.

Why so called cadre based national party need people to come and strengthen it. Is it so weak to sustain itself. Has it not learnt lesson in West Bengal where it admitted crowd fron TMC and lost miserably. Opportunists always jump the wagon and when they feel left out, then they turn back.

Come on yaar ! Where miserably? It increased its tally from 4 to 74 . The Vadra Congress was decimated and drew a blank. My heart goes out to all who think that RaGa will be the PM in 2024. when he ideally has to contest from a safe muslim constituency for survival down south in an unheard place in Kerala called WAyanad

He could not jump the ship last time. For sure he may still try. Apparently Congress has become a hopeless place to be in. Only support the party is getting from some old time media chaps and a small section of middle class.
