MLA Raghupati Bhat urges CM to relax lockdown restrictions in Udupi district

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Jun 20: Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat has made a public appeal to chief minister Yediyurappa not to continue lockdown in the district.

He has requested the chief minister to include Udupi in the list of districts which will be unlocked from June 21.

In his appeal, Bhat said, "The positivity rate in the district is just 5.05%. Every day on an average 3,000 swab tests are done.

"As the rate of positivity is less, I urge the CM to lift lockdown restrictions in the district. Small time traders are facing extreme hardship due to lockdown. It is suitable to unlock the district with certain precautions," he said.

The state government on Saturday June 19 announced partial relaxation of the lockdown in 16 districts including Bengaluru Urban which are recording less than 5 percent positivity rate. Districts with more than 5 percent positivity rate, such as Udupi and Dakshina Kannada, will continue with restrictions as announced in the previous order. Mysuru, where the rate of infection is above 10 percent, has been completely shut down.

The 16 districts with positivity rate below 5% which are in for partial unlock during daytime are Uttara Kannada, Bengaluru City, including BBMP, Belagavi, Mandya, Koppal, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Kolar, Gadag, Raichuru, Bagalkote, Kalaburgi, Haveri, Ramanagara, Yadgir and Bidar.

The 13 districts, which have positivity rate above 5% but below 10%, which are in for the previous lockdown conditions are Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, Davangere, Dharwad, Ballari, Chitradurga and Vijapaura.

This lockdown is a big scam. Even in more populated State like telangana, lockdown has been relaxed to a much greater extent. But our udupi district still going under lockdown. These politicians are not least concerned about the common man. It is like work at home & die at home. Morover there is no proper leader who belongs to udupi to represent it. Our mla is only giving statement, but not putting pressure on the government.

Good Job ..We dont need Agreeing for all decisions MLA ..you need to be vocal and speak against your own leadership when they take wrong decisions ..I appreciate Mr Bhats open statement.. Wonder what our Mangalore Side MLAs are doing? are they sleeping ? What happened to the vaccination drive ? It was supposed to start on 21 June for all above age 18.. The data that is provided seems rise above the 5% rate just before the unlock decision has to be taken. Why dont they stop inter district movement without tests? Do they know why the positivity rate is high ? in certain districts ..? is it because more tests are done here ? Does it indicate that lockdown has failed in these districts ? For Any further lockdown ..the govt should compensate ..The NGO is this region should stop their free food kit supply ..Because poor are getting the kits from private NGO' the govt is getting lethargic ..they think people here have no issues with lockdown .. The govt should announce free electricity and water and loan moratorium during lockdown ..No tax .. etc. It should get strict on covid appropriate behaviour with the citizens ..fien them ruthlessly ..Stop all religious gatherings in temples ,churches and mosques .. etc.. Covid is here to stay ..find appropriate solutions outside of "Lockdown measures"

5.05 % positive rate is marginally high compare to ositive rate in 1st wave. there is no much difference between 5% and 5.05% but people should be more cautious to avoid 3rd wave and its bad impact on every ones life

How long this lock down, lock down..? Looks clearly the efficiency of DCs. Look at Udupi DC. and Mangalore DC, clear difference. Inefficient DCs should be transferred. Though, D. K. People are following rules, somewhere something is wrong with regard to D. K. administration.

Why he should appeal through media? Can't he discuss the issue with his own party CM and ge it done? This is only a publicity stunt to fool common people and keep his vote bank intact. Stop this nonsense. People have already suffered a lot without their livelihood. Don't rub salt on the injury.
