Mangalore, Aug 31: The children ushered in season of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with great pomp at Kulshekar Church with beginning of Novena here on Tuesday August 31.

Over 600 children from various schools flocked the church to honour Mother Mary. It was a feast to the eye to see the traditional showering of flower petals carried by the children in hands and in cute baskets.

The children threw flowers in and around the church covering the area with the fragrance and colours of flowers and prayed to Mother Mary.

Parish priest Fr Valerian Pinto said the prayers on the occasion and the children with 150 disciples gathered to offer their prayers to Mother Mary. Fr Arun Lobo and Fr John Baptis Moras assisted the parish priest.

The sanctity of the Mass was further elevated by beautiful singing and music by the choir team which comprised school children from the area.

The Novena prior to the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary will be held from Tuesday August 31 and on Wednesday September 8 the Nativity will be held.
