Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 20: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday June 20 reported 525 new coronavirus cases and 11 deaths, while Udupi registered 166 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 9,64,157 samples have been tested so far, out of which 8,65,372 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 88,707, out of which 7,126 are currently active.
As many as 583 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 80,530.
The district recorded 11 deaths due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1051, out of which two are non-Covid deaths.
The positivity rate in the district stands at 4.95%.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 86,93,217 as fine in 71,846 incidents of mask violation.
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 6,56,523 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 166 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 65,356, out of which 1,870 are currently active.
A total of 180 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 63,114.
Out of 166 new patients, 152 are in home isolation while 14 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 166, as many as 128 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi taluk reported 59 of the 166 cases, Kundapur recorded 44, Karkala 57, and six from outside the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 372 lives in the district so far, including one on Sunday. The person who died on Sunday was 35-year-old woman from Udupi.
So far, 3,37,189 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 95,401 have received the second dose.
A total of 25 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the distrinct so far, out of which, five are currently active.
