Kundapur, Sep 2: A team of the Lokayukta police raided the office of Kundapur Urban Development Authority here on Wednesday September 1 evening, and arrested Ashok, a junior engineer grade officer, on the allegation of accepting bribe.

The raid was conducted by a team headed by Lokayukta Inspector, B P Dinesh Kumar.

A person named Mohammed Yousuf, residing in Hanglur village within the urban authority limit, had applied for a no objection certificate for his land conversion. On Yousuf’s behalf, a person named Satish had applied for the certificate in April this year. Allegedly, the official in question started harassing Satish, giving lame excuses and sometimes, refusing to issue it. He also demanded Rs 3,000 for issuing the certificate, when Satish met the official recently. Satish complained to the Lokayukta.

The official was caught red-handed, after he accepted money and issued the said certificate on Wednesday. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the official.

Well done Lokayukta inspector Mr. Dinesh Kumar. Everyone knows that, most of the Govt. Officials are corrupt. The officials who are cought should be suspended. Couple of raids like this will help the common man to complete their dealings without much delay & problem.
