Janardhana Reddy Invites Parvathamma to Unveil Rajkumar Park

Bangalore, Sep 3: In an apparent attempt to win the support of pro-Kannada activitists and fans of Kannada's matinee idol the late Dr Rajkumar, Bellary mining lords led by state tourism and infrastructure minister Gali Janardhana Reddy have taken the iniative to develop a park in Bellary wherein they plan to install a statue of the legend.

Reddy called on Dr Rajkumar's wife at their residence in Sadashivanagar here on Friday September 3 to extend a formal invitation to Parvathamma Rajkumar to unveil the statue and inaugurate the park.

Parvathamma Rajkumar accepted the invitation. However, the minister said a convenient date for the inaugural function would be decided in due course after consulting the family.

It may be recalled that chief minister B S Yeddyurappa recently unveiled a statue of Dr Rajkumar in the heart of the city.

Dr Rajkumar's youngest son Raghavendra Rajkumar was present on the occasion. Kannada writer and editor of Hai Bangalore Kannada weekly, Ravi Belagere and other dignitaries were also present.
