Mangaluru, Jun 28: Even though Dakshina Kannada district as a whole is witnessing improvement in the daily coronavirus cases, the fact that the number of deaths is increasing has given rise to some worry. During the last ten days, coronavirus has claimed the lives of 138 persons. However, 40 percent among them are from outside the district. Because they breathed their last in the hospitals in the district, their numbers are added in the district bulletin. Therefore Dakshina Kannada district shows more deaths.

The government has chosen Dakshina Kannada and Mysuru districts for the implementation of Covid health bed management system under Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust on experimental basis. Therefore, the number of positive cases, recoveries, etc are now entered in the internet simultaneously. In the past, if a person from another district came here for treatment and died, his death was accounted in the district to which he belonged.

As Dakshina Kannada district is ahead in healthcare sector, people from neighbouring districts come here for treatment in case of health complications. Out of 43 who died during the last three days in Dakshina Kannada, 13 were from some other districts.
