Udupi, Jun 28: Justice for Kalmat Masjid Vedike has stated that the government's name has been illegally entered in the land records of Kodavoor Kalmat Pallikettu masjid and thereby denying the rights of minorities. "The name of the masjid should be re-entered in the Pahani Patra,” stated the Vedike in a request submitted to the state government chief secretary through the tahsildar.
Anti-NRC campaigner Shashidhar Hemmady said that the government's Tasdeeq was being received since 1908. “The mosque land was registered with the Wakf Board in 1993. A gazetted notification was issued on the basis of legal documents. The government is taking the land in its custody and denying prayers that were conducted in it is something that is condemnable. The communal elements are hurting religious sentiments. The government should intervene and immediately take action against deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh. Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat is also involved in it,” he alleged.
Kundapur member of municipal council, Abu Mohammed, Yasin Hemmady, Kundapur Jamia Masjid president, Sayya Nasir, Liaquat Kandlur, Hussain Haikady, Aslam Sastan, Abbas Kandlur, Naushad Sunsur, Furkan and others were present.
