Mangaluru: Private buses to begin operations from Jul 1 with 20% hike in fare

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Jun 30: After over a month of lockdown period, private buses will begin to ply in the district from July 1, duly following Covid protocols with 50% seating capacity and 20 per cent hike in fares.

Despite the fact that deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K V Rajendra passed orders permitting to operate buses with 50% seating capacity from last Monday, the private buses preferred to wait and decided to ply from July 1. Due to several reasons such as vehicle fitness, condition, development works in the city and fuel price, the bus owners association decided to wait till July 1.

The bus fare will be increased by 20% in the first stage, until the Covid guidelines are in force. The DC will conduct a meeting with the RTO and bus owners.

The buses need to ply with 50% seating capacity, social distance should be maintained, masks should be worn, sanitization should be done and other Covid guidelines are to be followed.

Speaking to daijiworld.com, president of District Bus Owners’ Association Dilraj Alva said, “From July 1, few private buses will operate after release from the RTO depending upon its fitness condition. From July 5, more number of buses will provide service in the city. Due to the lockdown, the condition of the buses is the main concern for all of us. Almost all the bus conductors and drivers have been vaccinated with first dose.”

Metros to which destinations? The one local train introduced by DVS from Kasargod to Byndoor didn't workout, finally had to be cancelled. Let private buses continue their journey.

It is funny how people jump at every excuse to blame the government. I am no fan of the current government, but appalled by the attitude of certain sect of people who choose to oppose the government for certain biased reasons rather than logic. What do you think would have happened had it been Mr RG as your PM.... aaloo se sona nikaltha? The current situation is certainly grave, better choose options like car pooling, and avoid unnecessary travel even for work....well reducing our dependence on biofuels seem the only logical solution but impractical for most of them.

Such andhbhakts, can criticize Rahul but can't say a word to the present government by all means questions will be asked only to the present government and not to the opposition or Rahul Gandhi, by bhakts comments it looks like Rahul is the de facto PM. All fuel price and commodities price and cost of living is gone up because of Congress such is the logic of andhbhakts. It makes no difference to bhakts because they must be getting subsidiary from the government so the price rise doesn't have any affect on them

20% hike in fare ok. But they should not allow one more passenger over 50% allowed . Our Traffic Police and RTO officials must check every bus like how our DC not allowing one single person more then allowed for marriage functions. Administration must put havey fine to control this city buses. Otherwise these city buses will be the place of spreading Corona virus.

I dont understand what is meant by 50% seating capacity in buses. From last 2 weeks KSRTC buses are plying to many places. Specially i have seen Mangalore to Puttur KSRTC buses are not following the Govt. rule. All the buses are traveling with full seating capacity and 15 to 20 passengers standing.

Walk more. Stay fit. Avoid autos and buses whenever you can. More fresh air. Less chance of catching any infections. Another good effect: lesser auto and bus driver and conductors in the bars/gadangs. 😁👍
