Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 1: Private buses have been helping the coastal districts to grow by serving the citizens promptly. Unlike other major cities, Mangaluru continues to be served by private city, local, and express buses.

A limited number of Karnataka State Road Transport Service buses including Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission and long distances ones, have been operating in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts from Monday this week. The private bus owners had announced that their buses will begin to serve the citizens from July 1.

From Thursday, a limited number of private buses have begun to move about on the roads. As the buses have to be run with 50 percent passenger capacity and on account of hike in fuel cost, like KSRTC buses, private bus operators too have increased their fares.

Private buses started operating in Udupi district as well. Only handful of buses are running. Buses to Mangaluru, Kundapur, Hebri and Shivamogga have started operating. Ticket prices are up by 25%. The ticket fare from Udupi to Mangaluru is increased to Rs 95. From Manipal to Mangaluru the fare is Rs 100. In city buses Rs 12 is fixed for the first two kilometres. On an average Rs two to Rs four in increased in city bus fares. Buses will operate till 7 pm in the city. Depending upon the response of the public private bus owners will take decision to run more buses. Though buses have started plying, the passengers are very few in number at the bus stands.

The people who were missing the private bus services that are known to serve nooks and corners of the twin districts by sticking to time schedules on account of acute competition, are likely to welcome them with open arms. The information that the district is likely to see a slew of added concessions in the lockdown restrictions, have made the bus owners to hope to do good business.

If public will follow covid guidelines properly there is no need of lock down ... In india covid cases are high coz most of the public don't follow the covid guideline ... Specially labours from local, from other districts, from other state . Apart from that our senior citizens are also not following the covid guideline ... If this continues there is no wondering if another lockdown will implemented... So avoid lockdown is in our hand not in government hand ... So be a responsible citizen plz do follow the covid guidelines ... And plzz do tell ur family n friends .. simply don't blame goverment ... Frist let us be right in our place ... When we will right in our place then only we can blame the government ..

Premature resuming of public transport & public places, before substantial reduction in infections, is definitely bound to again lead to a flare-up of the virulent delta+ variant! BTW, countries facing a deadly rebound after having vaccinated a large number of their population, namely Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, & Israel! SIIs vaccine is losing it's sheen! Do your own research and decide!

This proves that privatisation model fails in times of need. Private Buses have been plying in Mangalore since decades. But now it is KSRTC and JNURM buses that are ferrying passengers. Private sectors have been badly hit . Stil govt will never learn

Our administration has done a good work by monitoring marriage party to follow Covid19 restrictions, But now who will monitoring the passengers buses now???? This bus service should not give scope to spread Corona virus in the area which is coming down. I think as per our state health minister 3rd wave will be in this month. My point is why hurry to start this bus service, atleast they could have wait till the end of this month. This is my opinion.

And its now high time for these lockdowns, more than covid virus; lockdowns are killing people and making life disgusting of remaining...
