Puttur, Jul 1: Deeksha Shetty, who belongs to a poor family and whose house recently collapsed, giving her sleepless nights over worries relating to the future of her education, can heave a sigh of relief now. Puttur Vivekananda Vidyavadhaka Sangha has decided to provide her free PU education.
The house of Deeksha, a resident of Kumburga in Chikkamudnoor village, had collapsed due to rain two days back. The family was then sheltered in Bannur gram panchayat office building.
Mahesh Nitilapura, principal of PU section of Vivekananda PU College, met Deeksha's family on Wednesday and informed it of the decision of his college management. He obtained details from her and included her in the WhatsApp group of his institution so that Deeksha can make preparations for the SSLC examination and study different subjects.
Special officer of the college, Venkatesh, Bannur gram panchayat president Jaya, members Raghavendra Andratta, Timmappa Poojary, Smitha Naik and others were present.
Congress leader A Hemanath Shetty, BJP leader Boodiyar Radhakrishna Rai etc along with their teams visited the family and promised to help the family in the construction of the collapsed house.
