Bantwal: Motorcycle, medical college bus collide, several injured

Bantwal, July 2: In an accident which happened in the early hours of Friday July 2 at Surulimoole on Mangalapadavu-Anantady road, women staff of a medical college and a motorbike rider were injured after the medical college bus and a motorbike were involved in an accident.

The bus belongs to KMC Hospital, Attavar, Mangaluru. It was carrying the staff of Wenlock, KMC and Lady Goschen hospitals when it collided with a motorbike that was coming from the opposite direction. The bus, after the collision, got stuck near the edge of a deep gorge.

Three staff nurses who were travelling by the bus, and the biker were injured in the accident. All the injured were admitted into the Vittal community hospital.

The bus had 13 passengers at the time of the accident. It was taking staff nurses from Mangalapadavu, Anantady and Mani area to Mangaluru when the accident took place. The bike rider has been identified as Zakir, a resident of Irandoor Padil. On account of the accident, the bus swerved to the edge of the road and got stuck in a tree, averting a major tragedy. The bus came to a halt by the side of a deep gorge, and a woman lost her balance and fell down.

Policemen from Vittal station visited the spot and undertook suitable measures.
