Bommai asks Nirmala for State’s GST compensation of Rs 11,800 crore

Bengaluru, Jul 2: Home and Law Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is also Karnataka’s representative in the GST Council, has urged Union Finance Minister to release State’s share of GST compensation of Rs 11,800 crore.

Bommai, who called on the Union Finance Minister in Bengaluru on Friday, also urged Sitharaman to sanction financial support to many centrally sponsored programmes being implemented by the State Government.

The Minister later said the Union Minister positively responded to the demands and agreed to consider them.

Bommai said the State Government has done its best in GST collections despite the difficult economic conditions and slowdown on account of the Covid pandemic.

    Sack Ms Nirmala Sitharaman and appoint Mr Siddaramaiah former CM of Karnataka as the FM of GOI. He will pay the States the entire GST dues. Siddaramaiah knows how to tame the IAS and use his brains to mobilise and utilise funds. At best Ms Nirmala can sit with a towel spread before her at the World Bank gates pleading for funds to make a "Hand to Mouth" living of our country's finances. She's a failure.

    Reserve bank of india surplus reserves - family silver - proverbial - also depleted - Last fig's are approx 2-00 lakh crores in about 2 years - RBI trsf to GOI - sell off ---insurance- banks etc -

    It is union ministers and central governments duty to return state governments share in GST 18% there is no special request required and honor with shawl-flowers etc Nautanki. Compensation is totally different than our rights. You can imagine non-BJP states plight to recover their share in GST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GST was celebrated like freedom @ midnight While the British left for good ... The union govt has made state govts bonded labourers .. Further cleverly CESS .. surcharges ...added which the union govt need not share with states .. This was not in the original spirit of GST .. Common man however burdened Fuel etc etc ..
