Mangalore: Moodbidri Gets Record 13 cms of Rain

Mangalore, Sep 8: Heavy rains that have been soaking the coast and hinterlands since the last some days, have come as a dampener to the spirits of the people, who are preparing to celebrate a host of festivals lined up during this season. Moodbidri recorded 13 cms of rain, the highest in the state, on Tuesday September 7.

A release by the meteorological department has said that the coast is likely to receive rains in excess of 125 cms during the next two days. Heavy, incessant rains, which are unusual during this period of the year, are experienced all over the Karnataka coast.

Mulky, Karkala, Kundapur and most of the places in the coast received between five and seven cms of rain on Tuesday. The rains have also caught the businessmen, who were hoping to do a brisk business through exhibitions and other means, unawares.
