Mangaluru, Jul 10: Private Challenge, a popular Tulu television show on Daijiworld TV, which set a new trend in the coastal and Malnad regions, has successfully completed 60 episodes. The show will end after its 60th episode on Sunday July 11 at 9 pm.
The show, Private Challenge, was started to entertain the viewers during the first phase of the Covid-19 lockdown, as normal life was affected and sources of entertainment like movies, drama and Yakshagana were not allowed. The show became very popular. People irrespective of age, gender, community, caste, language and religion have enjoyed the show. Moreover, school going children were keenly awaiting Sundays to watch the show. The on-screen chemistry of Tulunadu Manikya Aravind Bolar and Walter Nandalike mesmerized the audience. Private Challenge further set a new genre in the coastal Karnataka's television industry.

Aravind Bolar, a famous comedian from the Coastalwood industry, played 60 different characters in the episodes. Characters like the toddy tapper, fish seller, beedi rolling woman, housemaid, PUSCOM chairman, underworld don, panwala, beggar, schoolgirl, gym instructor among others, gained overwhelming response from the viewers. Moreover, Bolar played a dual role in two shows of Private Challenge. It was the first successful experiment in the Tulu television industry. The show was of satirical genre that depicted the life of people of various sections in the society, with a good message. Walter Nandalike, who played the role of TV host in Private Challenge, also gained immense fans, due to the popularity of the show. Several people thronged the Daijiworld office to wish Nandalike and Bolar for their performance. The duo's performance in the show was always lauded on social media.
Setting a new record in the field of television shows in the coastal television industry, Private Challenge also became a platform for budding artistes. Short video clips of different episodes have been used by social media users for their troll pages.
A dedicated technical team consisting video editor Noel Puttur and cinematographers Kiran Kepu, Durgaprasad Kakepadavu and Dayanand Kukkaje have also played vital roles in the success of the show.
Ashith Pinto, production director of the show, composed music for the episodes. Artiste Dinesh Attavar handles the make-up. 'Electrical Point' is the main sponsor of the show.
The man behind the show, Stany Bela, wrote the script and directed all the episodes of the Private Challenge.
Speaking to daijiworld.com, Stany Bela said, "Private Challenge was not a normal comedy show. It made a sincere effort to portray several issues satirically. From its first episode itself, people accepted the programme and enjoyed it. The message to be conveyed has reached the people effectively.
“Initially, we had planned to stop the show after 25 episodes. But due to the viewers' overwhelming response and demand, we were compelled to run the show till the 50th episode. As the demand continued from the audience, we extended for 10 more episodes. And now, we are drawing to a close with the 60th episode. Further, we have begun shooting for the second season of Private Challenge. The audience can expect more variety in 'Private Challenge - Season 2'. Bolar and Nandalike will play the lead roles and the audience can expect more humour,” he said.
