Nausheen Ali Sardar Returning to TV, Turning Producer

New Delhi, Sep 10 (IANS): Actress Nausheen Ali Sardar, who featured in Ekta Kapoor's popular serial "Kkusum", feels directors and writers are left with little say in the television industry. Not seen on the small screen for a while, she is now planning a comeback even as she wants to focus on production.

"Television is in the doldrums. No show is working well nowadays. Channels have taken over control from directors and writers and have been mending it their way. Directors and writers have been left with little say. People are getting greedier by the hour," Nausheen told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

"Moreover, from locations to technical equipment, everything is getting extremely expensive. This is the reason why many people are shifting their base out of Mumbai and going to other areas to shoot.

"However, I am positive that everything will be alright soon," she added.

Born to a Punjabi Muslim father and an Iranian mother, Nausheen became a household name as "Kkusum". She was later seen in singer Altaf Raja's video album "Pehle to kabhi kabhi gum tha" and has also been a part of reality show "Mr. and Mrs. TV".

Nausheen recently made her Bollywood debut with Vikram Bhatt's "Three - Love, Lies, Betrayal".

After keeping away from the small screen for a long time, Nausheen is returning to acting with STAR One's "Mano Ya Na Mano", a show based on true stories.

The story is about a couple, Siddhant and Mansi, who have spooky experiences. At first they feel it is just their imagination, but later realised there is more to it.

Asked what kept her away for so long, she said, "I wanted to do some good and meaty roles. I have always tried to be versatile and ensured that I don't get stereotyped. This is the reason why I also stepped out of 'Kkusum'. I felt there was not much for me to do in it and I needed to grow."

"I was receiving offers but nothing met my expectations."

Nausheen is also set to venture into production with the launch of her own production house -- Mesmerize Productionz -- along with her associate Raj Premi.

"I had been toying with the idea of venturing into production for a long time. We are planning to launch our production house with a daily soap and are in talks with various channels for the same," she added.

Does this mean that acting will take a backseat for Nausheen?

"No, not at all. How can I go away from the medium where I made a name for myself. But it is true that I won't be taking up a show where I have to give all 30 days for shoot because I want to concentrate more on my production house," he said.
