Union minister advises Jal Jeevan Mission completion in time bound manner

Bengaluru, Jul 13: Union Jalshakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and chief minister B S Yediyurappa jointly held a review meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state on Tuesday.

The union minister directed the completion of the project in a time-bound manner.

Under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), the union government wants to provide functional household taps to 15.70 crore rural households by 2024.

The government aims to stress upon the functionality of the scheme along with creating the facility, he said.

He also suggested providing FHTCs in aspirational districts such as Raichur and Yadgir on priority and also to ensure the quality of water.

Chief minister BS Yediyurappa apprised the Union Minister about the progress of JJM in the state.

The state government aims to provide 91.19 lac rural households, 55 LPCD potable water through FHTC.

Under this scheme, during 2021-22 it is intended to provide FHTCs to 25.17 lac households and to 27.15 lac households in 2022-23 and to cover the remaining 10.72 lac households by the end of December, 2023, he said.

The State Cabinet has approved Multi-Village Scheme worth Rs 2,000 crore for Raichuru one of the aspirational districts. Multi-Village scheme is also being planned for Yadgir district, he said.

Home and law minister, Basavaraj Bommai, minor irrigation minister, J C Madhuswamy and state chief secretary, P Ravikumar, water resources department additional chief secretary, Rakesh Singh and other senior officers from Government of India and the state government were present in the meeting.
