Mangaluru: Assault, misbehaving with police constables - Two people detained

Mangaluru, Jul 14: Three persons are accused of misbehaving and trying to assault women constable in Urwa police station. A case has been registered under sections 354, 353 of IPC and two people are already taken into custody.

It may be recalled that two cases were filed at Urwa police station in the month of May against issues with maintenance charges and water connection in an apartment. Following the discussion between the apartment association, the water connection was resumed and cases were withdrawn.

However, regarding the withdrawal of cases Noel Sequiera, John Sequeira and their daughter had come to the police station.

"Noel Sequiera, John Sequeira and their daughter during their visit to Urwa police station misbehaved with the police personnel and tried to record a conversation with the inspector while in his chamber. Upon questioning the family behaved rudely with the women constable and other staff of the police station. Two of them have been detained for an enquiry and there is also a video proof of the trio misbehaving with the staff," said police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.

    How come 2 men and one persons daughter, can go to the police station and mis behave with the police constable, when the full team of police staff were present. Even in sensible person will not do it. Here definitely, police might have man handled these people and when they could not tolerate the police behaviour, they might have reacted. Now police will definitely say, these 2 men have assaulted, misbehaved with the police constable. I will not agree for it, as this has happened inside the police station.

    Well, why were the cops not wanting their conversation to be recorded? Why do they fear, if they are honest and just about doing their duty? These cops pull out their mobile phones and start panning their cameras whenever thet get outnumbered - but the common man has no right to record. Wah bhai wah. Is there any regulation that one cannot record their conversation with the police? When the pubic reportedly misbehaves, prompt and swift action and when it is the other way around, the concerned authorities prefer to look the other way around. NICE.

    The question here is what the party was recording could have been something which could have put them in trouble, which might have provoked the law enforcers & leading to this fracas! It's impossible a normal person gets abusive with any law enforcer especially within their own premises! Now, they can frame any charges; better stay away from these guys as far as possible to avoid unnecessary trouble! The accused guys will have to pay a heavy price for this if they do not settle it using the usual obvious method!

    Is it really possible for an old gentleman, a lady to attack police personnel inside the police station? Its a case that requires investigation and introspection.
