Sullia, Jul 15: Because of the absence of a bridge to reach the hospital, the locals had to carry an injured woman through a river that was overflowing, on their shoulders with the help of a stretcher. This happened at Marasanka in Jalsoor in the taluk, in minister S Angara's own constituency.

Devaki from Marasanka had slipped and fallen to the ground at her home resulting in fracture. The village has no road or bridge connectivity to the outside world. Therefore, the locals, risking their lives, had to cross the river duly carrying the injured woman even though the river was flowing with full force.

After crossing the river, Devaki was taken to hospital by an ambulance.

Marasanka village has a population of over 50 and the people here have no other choice but to cross the river for all kinds of activities.
