Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 25: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday July 25 reported 115 new cases and one death, while Udupi registered 100 new cases and no death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, the total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 98,323, out of which 2,010 are currently active.

As many as 209 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 94,920.

The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,393, out of which two are non-Covid deaths.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 99,51,417 as fine in 81,748 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,62,355 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 100 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 68,877, out of which 751 are currently active.

A total of 98 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 67,717.

Out of the 100 new patients, 83 are in home isolation while 17 are in Covid-designated hospital.

Among the 100, as many as 75 are symptomatic and 25 asymptomatic.

Out of the 100 cases, Udupi reported 38, Kundapur 28 and Karkala 33, while one was from outside the district.

Coronavirus has claimed 409 lives in the district so far. No deaths were reported on Sunday.

So far, 4,92,358 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 170,051 have received the second dose.

A total of 44 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, eight are currently active.
