Panaji: Para teachers protest for regularisation – Detained by police

Panaji, Jul 30: Para teachers held a protest at the Azad Maidan demanding the regularization of their services. They were detained as they were planning to march towards the state assembly.

The salary of the protesting teachers was increased to Rs 25,000 per month and their work period was increased to 12 months from the earlier 10 months according to the information provided by CM Sawant in the ongoing assembly session. But the teachers are demanding permanent positions as they have upto 15 years of experience in teaching.

One of the protesting teacher said that Late Manohar Parrikar had promised to give priority to para teachers while recruiting for permanent teacher positions. But the present government has not done the same. The teacher urged the government led by CM Sawant to fulfil the promises made by his predecessor.
