Mangaluru: 9-day novena prior to St Lawrence feast begins at Bondel church

Mangaluru, Aug 2: The nine-day novena prior to the annual feast of St Lawrence Church, Bondel, began on Sunday, August 1 with the unfurling of St Lawrence’s flag at the church premises.

Dr Satish Kallimar, Bondel, hoisted the flag of St Lawrence for the devotion of the nine-day novena in preparation for the annual feast of St Lawrence to be celebrated on August 10. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza parish priest, Fr Clifford Pinto, principal, St Lawrence English Medium School, Fr Rupesh Tauro, assistant parish priest, Fr Ravi MSIJ, Reginald D’Souza, vice-president, parish pastoral council, Steevan Noronha, secretary, Prakash Pinto, shrine committee convener, and several dvotees were present.

Fr James D'Souza, parish priest, Vamanjoor, was the main celebrant. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, Fr Clifford Pinto, Fr Rupesh Tauro concelebrated the Mass.

Theme of the 1st Day was ‘In the present situation for those who are dwindling in their faith’. Fr James D'Souza called on the devotees of St Lawrence to be firm in their faith.

The choir was from St Lawrence Church Bondel, Bajal.

During the celebration, the shrine stall keeper Peter Fernandes was honoured.
