Madikeri: Three Die of Drug Reaction, People Block Road in Protest


Madikeri, Sep 18 (PTI): Three persons died after being administered drugs at a primary health centre and a government hospital near here today, triggering protests by enraged public.

Police said two persons, including a woman, who received a shot of paracetamol, prescribed for fever and body pain, at the PHC in Suntikoppa developed complications and died at the District Government Hospital here shortly after they were admitted.

In the other incident, a 25-year old woman collapsed and her body turned blue immediately after being administered some drug for acidity intravenously at a government hospital in Kushal Nagar, 30 km from here, District Superintendent of Police Manjunath Annigeri told PTI.

The woman had purchased the drug from a medical shop outside the hospital, he added.
