Kundapur: Demonstration of 'Hi-tech Doti' to pluck areca nut held

Kundapur, Aug 2: Demonstration programme of plucking areca nut by using hi-tech Doti or hook and also spraying method of pesticide for arecanut farming was held at the areca nut farm of Ananda Kodgi, farmer of Amasebail on Sunday August 1.

The team led by Balasubramanya, mechanical engineer of Arakalagoodu of Hassan district gave the demonstration which can save labour cost and time.

Hi-tech Doti can be used to pluck areca nuts that are at a height of 60 to 80 feet from the ground. In addition, pesticides can be sprayed also. Ultra-modern battery sprayers are used in this equipment. The areca nut crop will be harvested without any damage to the pepper branches that grow around the arecanut trees. In addition, there is provision for arecanut to be caught without falling to the ground. The hi-tech dotis cost from Rs 20,000 to Rs 84,000.

Vice president of state food corporation Kiran Kumar Kodgi, senior agriculturist Arun Kumar Shetty Senapura, president of district farm crop growers association Ashok Kumar Kodgi, president of Amasebail agricultural cooperative society Manjaiah Shetty, CEO Krishna Kumar Bhagavath and Pradeep Hebbar were present.
