Mangalore, Sep 20: In an accident that occurred at the national highway 17 main junction in Suratkal on the evening of Satuday September 18, a person who was driving the car, was killed. He has been identified as L Shankar Rao (55), a resident of Hosabettu near Suratkal.
Rao was driving his Maruti car towards Hosabettu, when a truck moving towards Mulky from Mangalore, hit his vehicle. Rao, a native of Sringeri and working as senior manager for an industrial unit in Panambur here, was critically injured in the accident. He later breathed his last in a private hospital in the city. He had been to Suratkal to bring some vegetables, it is gathered.
Rao is survived by wife and two daughters, one of whom resides in USA. His other daughter is pursuing postgraduate course in anaesthesia in Davangere medical college.
