Mysuru, Aug 6: It is said that a professor who invited a research scholar to his home, raped her there. In this connection, the victim as well as the professor's wife have filed a police complaint.
Prof Ramachandrappa, professor in political science, Mysuru University, has been accused of raping the lady. His wife is a Kannada professor in the Kuvempu Kannada Study Centre of the university.
The aggrieved leady is pursuing PhD degree under the guidance of Prof Ramachandrappa. On Thursday, she was asked by the professor to visit his home. On her arrival there, she was raped there, it is said. The lady shouted for help. The professor's wife who then returned home from the college learnt what had happened and joined the complainant in approaching the police.
The professor's wife, who expressed resentment at her husband's behaviour, claimed that he had sexually harassed several girl students at Manasagangotri here in the past but there was no proof against him. She said that because of the fact that there were no evidences or proof, complaints could not be filed against him. She said that on Thursday she got concrete evidence and therefore went to the police with the victim and filed complaint.
The police have questioned the lady and taken her for medical examination, it is gathered.
